2018 Park Prize Pursuit FAQs

What is Park Prize Pursuit?
Park Prize Pursuit is a free, open to all ages, summer-long scavenger hunt in parks across Chemung County from June 11th through September 4th. This scavenger hunt encourages children and families to discover featured parks while searching for answers to clues within each park. Each clue that is answered correctly will earn a person an entry into a random prize drawing to be held on September 10th.  Additional weekly clues will be announced each week giving people a greater chance to win prizes.

 

 

How can I sign-up to participate in Park Prize Pursuit?
Residents can click here https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/gssiu2018reg to register.  If you register you'll earn an extra prize ticket.

How do I submit my clues?
Either online with survey monkey https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/PPP2018CC or drop off or mail in your answers to Chemung County Health Department 103 Washington Street Elmira, NY 14901 your answers must be submitted by September 4, 2018.

When is Park Prize Pursuit?
Park Prize Pursuit 2018 begins on June 11th. The clues can be found at several local sites including:  Tanglewood Nature Center, Big Flats Community Park, Sperr Park, Katy Leary Park, Boat Launches in Chemung County, Park Station, Holding Point in Horseheads, Sullivan Park-Thorne Street Horseheads, Chapel Park in Southport, Pirozzolo Park in West Elmira, Lackawanna Rail Trail in Elmira, Eldridge Park and Catherine Valley Trail in Millport.

What is the Park Prize Pursuit Goal?

The Park Prize Pursuit is designed to improve overall health through increased physical activity at these recreational areas. Chemung County has higher rates of obesity for both adults and adolescents than New York State.  Our heart attacks, cerebrovascular disease, hypertension and diabetes hospitalization rates are all higher than NYS rates. 

What kind of prizes can I earn?
Prizes include a $100 Clemens Center gift certificate and Wegmans gift cards. Fit Bit, corn hole, ladder ball, jarts, bocce ball and hiking poles.

Who is eligible to win prizes?
Open to all ages.

Summer Meal Programs:

What are summer meals programs? Summer meals programs is a federal child nutrition program funded by the USDA and designed to provide kids and teens ages 18 and under healthy meals during the months of June, July, and August when school is out.

How do I find a Summer Meal site in my community? Summer meals sites are in the community at places like churches, schools, parks and community centers.

What is your BMI?
