Thursday, July 22, 2010 ELMIRA – The Chemung Valley Rural Health Network (CVRHN) and the Chemung County Dept. of Aging and Long Term Care are seeking trainers to lead workshops to help participants develop skills to better manage their chronic diseases. Monday, July 12, 2010 ELMIRA – The Chemung County Health Department announced today they will be offering additional clinics for school immunizations. Thursday, July 08, 2010 ELMIRA – The Chemung County Health Department wants to remind parents of the dangers of lead in paint, dust and soil. Lead is a major environmental threat for children in New York State. Lead is especially dangerous for young children where it can cause problems with a child’s growth, behavior and ability to learn. Lead can even harm babies before they are born. Tuesday, June 29, 2010 ELMIRA – The team of Chemung County workers who headed the mass vaccination campaign last year for pandemic H1N1 influenza was recognized this week as a 2010 New York State Public Health Works! Honor Roll awardee. The Incident Command Team, which consists of 11 County employees, was nominated for the award by Robert Page, Chemung County Health Center Director. Wednesday, April 07, 2010 ELMIRA – April is Sexually Transmitted Disease (STD) Awareness Month. The Chemung County Health Department reminds everyone that STDs continue to be a major public health issue. “Getting tested is the key to controlling STDs,” said Linda Swarthout, Community Health Educator for the Chemung County Health Department. Thursday, March 18, 2010 ELMIRA- The Chemung County Health Department is seeking your assistance in locating two pit bulls that were involved in two different biting incidents that recently occurred in Elmira. Wednesday, January 13, 2010 ELMIRA – Recognizing this week as National Influenza Immunization Week Chemung County Executive Tom Santulli and the Chemung County Health Department would like to encourage all County residents to take advantage of the opportunity to get the H1N1 flu vaccine. H1N1 flu can be especially serious for infants, individuals under the age of 25, pregnant women, and individuals with certain chronic medical conditions. Now that the vaccine is available in ample supply there is no better time to get protected against H1N1. David Paterson’s release yesterday stating that healthcare providers may now make the H1N1 flu vaccine available to all New Yorkers who want the vaccination, Chemung County, and its doctors offices, still currently have a very limited amount of vaccine available. Wednesday, October 21, 2009 ELMIRA – The Chemung County Health Department delivered the H1N1 Vaccination Consent forms to all school districts in Chemung County on Tuesday of this week. Schools will begin distributing these forms and parents should begin looking for them to come home with students. The consent forms will need to be returned to the school by November 2nd in order for the child to receive the vaccination during a school clinic. |
