The STTAC (Southern Tier Tobacco Awareness Community Partnership) conducted a survey of adult residents of Chemung, Schuyler, and Steuben counties in July 2011 regarding attitudes and opinions with regard to tobacco use and smoking.  To download a copy of the survey results, click HERE.

LYME DISEASE... in Chemung County.  A recent tick survey of a public park area showed almost half of the ticks collected were infected with the bacteria capable of causing Lyme Disease.  For more information, click HERE.

 

NYS Department of Health Commissioner issues "Order For Summary Action" banning the sale of "bath salts" containing designer drugs.  Chemung County Health Department personally delivering notices to local businesses.  To see a copy of the order, click HERE.

NOTE:  The FREE Tick Identification Service through the New York State Department of Health has been terminated effective July 1, 2011 due to budgetary constraints.  Tick identification is not a necessity for clinical management of Lyme disease.  Providers should be making their treatment decisions based on the patient in front of them. We are located at 103 Washington Street, Elmira, New York.  Our campus consists of the John C. Gridley Health Center and the Peter Chalk PavilionEnvironmental Health Services and Vital Statistics are both located in the Chalk Pavilion.
